50 Trails to the Wonder of Wilderness
The authors hiked more than 2,000 miles (3,220 km) through North Cascades
National Park plus the surrounding wilderness areas, including
Glacier Peak, Mt. Baker, the Pasayten, and Canada's Manning and
Cathedral provincial parks. They ascended elevation equivalent to
climbing from sea level to the summit of Mr. Everest nine times.
They took more than 1,000 photos and hundreds of pages of field
notes. Then they culled their list of favourite hikes down to 50 --
each selected for its power to incite awe.
This 264-page book describes precisely where to find the cathedral
forests, pyschedelic meadows, spiky summits, and colossal glaciers that
distinguish the American Alps. It offers the boot-tested advice you need
to create rewarding adventures. And it does so in refreshing style:
honest, literate, entertaining, inspiring. Like all WOW Guides, this one is
full-colour throughout, with over 150 photos, and a trail map for each dayhike and backpack trip.
Boot-tested and written by Kathy & Craig Copeland.
