Elfin Lakes BC

"Elfin Lakes BC" is an odd term, so let's clarify it. The Elfin Lakes are in the south end of Garibaldi Provincial Park. BC stands for British Columbia, the Canadian province in which the park is located. Access to the lakes is via the town of Squamish, which is on the Sea-to-Sky Highway between Vancouver and Whistler.

We will, however, continue using the term "Elfin Lakes BC" in case, for whatever reason, you searched those specific words. But be aware you will not find it labeled as such elsewhere. You'll see it as simply "Elfin Lakes."

Elfin Lakes BC are as diminutive as their name suggests. It's the gargantuan, riotous topography surrounding them that makes them a wondrous hiking destination, as described in Done in a Day Whistler, The Ten Premier Hikes.

The scenery en route to the lakes is engaging. Volcanism and glaciation of Biblical magnitude created the many satellite peaks of 2678-m (8786-ft) Mt. Garibaldi that you'll see from the trail.

The gravel road to Elfin Lakes BC is bikeable, but the ride is joyless, devoid of technical challenge. It's just a bumpy grind on loose rock. Besides, cycling would keep your eyes down, while eyes-up hikers savour a visual feast.
