Done in a Day: Moab

Devils Garden Arches

"Devils Garden Arches" is not a commonly used term. It refers to the natural arches in the Devils Garden area of Arches National Park, near Moab, Utah.

We will, however, continue using the term "Devils Garden Arches" in case, for whatever reason, you searched those specific words. But be aware that the area is generally known as simply "Devils Garden."

The Devils Garden Arches are the highest concentration of significant natural arches on earth. Among them is Landscape Arch, the world's longest natural arch. It's an impossibly slender ribbon of stone longer than a football field. It ranks among our planet's greatest natural wonders.

Landscape Arch is a smidge longer than Kolob Arch in Zion National Park. Landscape is also incomparably elegant, which is why most observers consider it a more astounding sight than Kolob. It's certainly easier to reach. Viewing Kolob necessitates a 14-mi (22.5-km) round-trip dayhike. Landscape is a mere one mile from the trailhead.

Continuing beyond Landscape Arch is a long, loop trail accessing the other Devils Garden Arches. Though less miraculous than Landscape Arch, they're equally beautiful and enthralling. And because they're sequestered, they tend to be in unexpected, intimate settings, so you're apt to feel an exhilarating sense of discovery when you finally clap eyes on them.
